The following VHS students participated in the “Learn Program” at South Park Elementary:  Briana Knox, Kori Screws, Grace Bufkin, Torey Daniels, Kalea Abney, Jayla Atlas, Zack Coomes, Erica Darden, Parker Demeranville, Sean East, Madeline Gual, Jazmine Green, Taylor Hollowell, Tyler Kimble, Katlin Leverette, Charity Lockridge, Raven London, Beth Martin, Will Martin, Tyler McDowell, Shelby Murihead, Tae’lor Nelson, Mack Rather, Jada Sims, Jay Sturgis, Jadyn Stone, Bobbi Taylor, Austin Warren, Analiese Wasson, Darius Williams, and Deshun Younger.  This event was sponsored by the VHS Key Club.

The members of the National Honor Society served as bell ringers for the Salvation Army at various locations throughout the community.  Members who volunteered were Elisha Howard, Karry Callahan, Miesha Bure, Jessica Parson, Mack Rather, Brittney Jenkins, Ishmael Pendleton, Monique Jones, Jamison Watson, De’Andre Davis, and Deshun Younger

The VHS Student Council sponsored a Penny Harvest to benefit the Warren County Children’s Shelter.  Students were asked to drop change and dollars into their English teacher’s orange bucket.  Winners will be announced later and the winning classes will receive a party. 

The following VHS Key Club members participated in the “Learn Program” at Vicksburg Intermediate:  Jayla Atlas, Trey Blackmore, Jazmine Green, Tyson Hardy, Daylon Jewitt, Katlin Levette, Tyler McDowell, Olivia Oakes, Dewayne Sims, Jada Sims, Jay Stirgus, Tyler Smith, Jadyn Stone, and Bobbi Taylor.

The schedule for the re-testing for SATP is as follows: Dec. 8 - U.S. History; Dec. 9 – Biology I for last names A-J; Dec. 10 - Biology I for last names K-Z; Dec. 11 - Make-up for all U.S. History and Biology I.

The following students were recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society: Makayla Busby, Mekahel Dotson, Charity Davis, Jessica Thomas, Billy Watson, David King, Shelia Jones, Meiya Walker, Autumn Wines, ZyDerrica Gibbs, Kaneisha Taylor, Akia Brown, Katlyn Freeman, Hanah Kinley, Kiara Lyons, Brittani Mebius, Keshondra Smith, Dynasty Sylvester, Dierus Abby, Justin Bell, Payton Edwards, and Nicholas Johnson.

Cast members for Singe Feast 2014 are: Jamison Watson, King; Darbie Woods, Queen; Miesha Bure, Jester; Cody Gardner, Mertonsire; Tanner Gardner, Lancelot; Kenzie Irons, Lance Little; Ashley Erves, The Truth Fairy; members of the Royal Court are Zaria Neal, Brooke Rigsby, Ke’Aubrey Clark, Brittany Brewer, Carmen Braxton, Erika Wheeler, Breezlynn Dillon, Fay Valerio, Jadarius Flagg, Vidal Thuha, Tevin Sylvester, Noah Ledbetter, Warner Baxton, and David Frost. The production will be presented on Dec. 12, 7 p.m., at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. Dinner will be provided by Palmertree Catering. Contact Tracy Smithey at 601-831-1807 for tickets.

VHS students volunteered their time to beautify their school campus.  This event was sponsored by the PTO.  The VHS Family and the PTO would like to thank all the participants who made this event a success. Photos can be found here.

November 30th, 2014

The schedule for the re-testing for SATP is as follows:  Dec. 1 - Algebra I; Dec. 2 and 3 - English 2 for last names A-J; Dec. 4 and 5 - English 2 for last names K-Z; Dec. 5 - Make-up for all Algebra 1 and English 2; Dec. 8 - U.S. History; Dec. 9 - Biology for last names A-J; Dec. 10 -Biology for last names K-Z; Dec. 11 - Make-up for all U.S. History and Biology. 
Baseball tryouts will be Dec. 1 and 2, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the baseball practice field.  Bring gloves, athletics pants, weather appropriate tops, tennis shoes or cleats, and a copy of recent medical physical form.  Sign up for tryouts in Office A or Office B. 
The PTO will sponsor a Staff and Faculty breakfast on Dec. 2 at 7:50 a.m. 
Science Fair projects are due Dec. 2.  The Science Fair will be held on Dec. 4 in the gym. 
Tryouts for the varsity track and field team will be held Dec. 2 and 3 at 4 p.m. at the stadium.  All interested athletes must have a completed physical before they can try out and should wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes.  Athletes must attend both days of tryouts.

There will be a Campus Beautification/Community Service Project on Dec. 6 from 9 a.m.-12:00 noon. 
The VHS Madrigals will perform at the Holly Days festivities at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center on Dec. 6 at 1 p.m.
